At the time of this writing (2009\-03) there are three \s-1YAML\s0
implementations working: \s-1YAML,\s0 YAML::Syck, and \s-1YAML::XS.\s0 The latter
two are faster but need a C compiler installed on your system. There
may be more alternative \s-1YAML\s0 conforming modules. When I tried two
other players, YAML::Tiny and YAML::Perl, they seemed not powerful
enough to work with \s-1CPAN\s0.pm. This may have changed in the meantime.
